Meet some of our staff
Counties Manukau Health staff regularly give their thoughts and feedback on how we could do things better. Be part of this continuous quality improvement and make real changes to the organisation.
I am the Senior Physiotherapist in the Acute Orthopaedic team (Acting Section Head Physiotherapist for the Acute Orthopaedic team when the Section Head is absent). My role
here at CM Health is to assess and treat acute and elective Orthopaedic patients – these can include Total Hip and Knee Joint replacements, Cervical and Lumbar Spine Decompressions, Spinal Cord Injuries and Fractures to the Upper and Lower limbs. I also see patients in the Emergency Department who present with acute lower back pain, BPPV (dizziness), Hyperventilation, or who have fallen and require balance and mobility assessments. Supervise and educate Junior Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy students from AUT. Provide education sessions for Nursing staff and nursing students. Promote Physiotherapy to High school students in South Auckland.
What I love about my job is the interaction with other health professionals (Nurses, Doctors, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Therapists etc). Building trusting relationships with patients and their families, particularly the Samoan patients who don’t speak English. Getting patients back on their feet following a traumatic event.
A positive challenges for myself in this organisation is enabling the students and Junior Physiotherapists to make safe and autonomous treatment decisions.
Dr. Sarah CorbettSpecialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
I joined CM Health in 2009 as a Registrar & did my Fellowship post the same. Last year I joined as a Consultant and chose to continue with CM Health as it gives me a combination of a collegial and supportive environment. We work with a dynamic & vibrant population in a community with real variety where everyone is appreciative. We have the busiest delivery suite in NZ/AU offering a variety of services that includes outpatient, hysteroscopy, advance laparoscopy, obstetrics and more.
Dr Martyn SeayChronic Pain Specialist (Anaesthetist)
Dr Martyn Seay joined CM Health as a Trainee and stayed with us ever since and recently he retired from his services, See what he has to say; ”I like hands on job and Anaesthesia does that for me. Middlemore is the biggest Polynesian Hospital and has a unique set of cultural characteristics. We are always busy so the expectations are high, I have seen the contrast and I believe we do it lot better. I feel there is a sense of belonging at CM Health and we always strive to provide the best service we can to our community”

Amanda GibsonHR Business Partner
Amanda has recently joined CM Health 5 weeks ago, see what Amanda has to say; CM Health is a large complex organisation with numerous professions. My experience is that people are typically aligned in their motivation to work in partnership with one another, with the patient at the centre of what we do. There also appears to be openness to innovation and continuous improvement. Growing capability is my passion, we have an ability to make a difference in the lives of people in our community & HR is an interesting and rewarding role as people are at the heart of healthcare.
Dr TansilConsultant Psychiatrist (Maternal Mental Health)
“I have had the great pleasure of working as a Psychiatrist in the Maternal Mental Health team at CMH. The women in this team are like family and took care of me from the moment I arrived. The bonding in the team is so great that one of the nurses couldn’t help herself and bought me a bike helmet when she heard I planned to ride to work! Collaboration with key workers’ about patient care & management is the favourite part of my day and working in CMH has helped me grow my knowledge & skills. I am proud to be part of this team!
