The Clinical Training and Education Centre (CTEC) is a multi-disciplinary training facility available for the continued development of all clinical skills for CM Health staff, community groups and other healthcare providers.

PHO ACLS (CORE Skills) update opportunities

In 2017 your ACLS (CORE Skills) refresher requirements can be provided by the Resuscitation Instruction Team at the Clinical Training and Education Centre (CTEC) at Middlemore Hospital.

These sessions have been formulated to assist practice teams to meet their accreditation requirements locally and at a reduced cost, supporting the provision of safe healthcare in South Auckland.

All of the course content is based on the NZRC guidelines and meets the RNZCGP endorsement criteria.

The after-hours GP ACLS refresher is charged per team as per the advertised courses. It is provided with teamwork and role allocation as an important focus of ACLS training and we encourage the practices to attend as a team for this update.

Cost:

  • $200.00 (GP)
  • $150.00 (Nursing staff)
  • $50.00 (Admin staff)
  • Duration: 4.5 hours (**Admin staff can complete components by 1915hrs**)
  • Minimum 6 - Maximum 12 participants. DNA Fee of $150 applies

This course covers components of the CORE Advanced curriculum tailored to team based resuscitation training for GP practices and A and M Clinics. Designed for those who are unable to undertake the full CORE certification.

Modules assessed are:

  • Adult Collapse management and use of the AED
  • Child Collapse management and choking guidelines
  • Airway Management and use of advanced airway adjuncts
  • Manual Defibrillation for level 5-7 participants

We also discuss arrhythmia management and using simulation training cover team dynamics, communication and other facets of human factors coaching.

PHO Basic Life Support (BLS) update opportunities

In 2017 your basic life support refresher requirements can be provided by the Resuscitation Instruction Team at the Clinical Training and Education Centre (CTEC) at Middlemore Hospital.

These sessions have been formulated to assist practice teams to meet their accreditation requirements locally and at a reduced cost, supporting the provision of safe healthcare in South Auckland.

All of the course content is based on the NZRC guidelines and meets the RNZCGP endorsement criteria.

Our PHO BLS refresher sessions are a demonstrative practical session which allows the participants to practice the important skills that assist in the first important minutes of an emergency.

We cover;

  • Adult Collapse management and use of the AED
  • Child Collapse management and choking guidelines
  • Airway Management and use of advanced airway adjuncts

There is plenty of time available to re-familiarize with technique, equipment and current policies and guidelines. This gives staff an easy opportunity to stay current with their CPR skills.

We cater for clerical staff, and nursing staff to complete the appropriate level of CPR certificate for your PHO. If your staff require training in 2017 please contact us and book into a date that suits. Maximum number per session 18. DNA Fee of $150 applies.
