Ko Awatea Centre has everything you need to make your meeting, function or event a success!

Ko Awatea Centre is much more than just an events centre; it is a hive of activity, a hub for our current and future healthcare professionals. It represents the important themes of a diverse, new, exciting and prosperous partnership building on improving our healthcare and growing our future healthcare leaders.

Ko Awatea Centre features 23 fully air-conditioned function and breakout rooms plus two large lecture theatres, one tiered lecture theatre and one computer lab.

Our tiered lecture theatre offers a podium with laptop connectors to run presentations and videos from, as well as Wi-Fi screen-sharing. We have a hands-free microphone for the presenter, and portable mics for audience participation. We can record sessions onto USB, with a choice of four camera views including one for the audience.

The tiered lecture theatre seats 140 people, four of which are for wheelchair accessibility with lecture theatre style seating arrangement.

Opening Hours

Ko Awatea Centre is open Monday – Friday from 7:00am to 5:30pm.

All users must vacate the centre by 5:30pm.

Room configuration

Ko Awatea Centre Management Office does not provide room configuration setup unless it is a formal booking for a formally quoted event. Room users may reconfigure the room to meet their requirements. At the end of the scheduled time, the client is responsible for restoring the room to its original configuration. Layout formats are provided in each room for reference.

Any rooms not returned to the configuration may incur charges at the discretion of centre management. Please follow the image displayed in the room.

Set up and pack down time

For all staff please be advised that if you require time to set up and break down your meeting room, you must ensure that you book this time as part of your reservation. The Ko Awatea Centre often run back-to-back meetings so you do need to ensure you have enough time to reconfigure your room to your requirements.

Cancellation or variation of numbers

Should you no longer require your meeting room, the notification must be submitted in writing to koawateabookings.generic@middlemore.co.nz, giving at least 24 hours notice.
