One of the beautiful things about Counties Manukau is that you often hear staff say they feel like part of a big family/whaanau.
Our Orderly team are a lovely example of that, and they recently came together to honour their new Orderly Operations Manager, Mohiti Tonitata.
“When I turned up this morning, the team told me to get out of here and they set up this beautiful celebration.
“I was so proud of the team. The orderly pool room looked stunning and was decorated in the yellow and green colours of my Cook Island heritage,” says Mohiti.
The event was kicked off with a traditional Tau welcoming, performed by Kaivai Williams, who hails from Penrhyn, Cook Islands, the same island as Mohiti. It was followed by a moving haka performance, prayers, and speeches from colleagues.
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” says Mohiti who was further honoured with a haka and speeches from colleagues.
“Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari he toa takitini - It is not my strength alone, but the strength of many that contribute to my success.”
John Cartwright, Middlemore Central Manager exclaimed how proud and impressed he was of the Orderly team and how they really know how to come together like a whaanau and celebrate each other.
