As the weather cools down and winter approaches – yes, we know that’s kind of depressing – the teams at the Middlemore Foundation and Kidz First Hospital are gearing up for a big push in 2024 to bring joy and good health to thousands of tamariki in our community.
This year, the Jammies for June campaign will be bigger than ever.
The campaign objective : To get 15,000 jammies to Counties Manukau kids living in cold and damp houses.
Margi Mellsop of the Foundation says: “As always we want to help prevent children from becoming ill due to their damp living conditions by distributing a range of winter wellness products, as well as jammies.
“We also want to increase awareness of the many ways in which Kidz First Hospital and the Middlemore Foundation serve this community.”
Margi promises some special features to this year’s effort to enhance the fundraising efforts of the numerous Hospital teams, including an innovative auction.
This week, some delighted tamariki at Kidz First were given a first taste of the big jammies push, with a visit from the woman who gives so generously each year to the campaign - Dame Valerie Adams, who spent time with young patients from several wards.
