Counties Manukau has welcomed its largest-ever intake of new graduate nurses into employment.
Early in February, our Nurse Entry to Practice Programme (NETP), was greeted with great enthusiasm by the arrival of our large cohort of 110 new kaimahi.
This group began their journey with a poowhiri led by our Maaori Health team and had two weeks of non-clinical education days facilitated by our NETP team, building on previous learning, gaining new knowledge, and introducing them to resources and the wider Counties whanau.
NETP Clinical Coach Alana Krishna says, “The new nurses will get lots of extra support during their practice. They will be warmly welcomed into their clinical areas, with service-specific learning and a six-week, preceptor supported orientation period.”
Alana says the Nurse Entry to Practice Programme is a holistic, comprehensive, and structured program in which graduate nurses can further develop their nursing competence, professional development, and skills.
Health New Zealand Counties Manukau offers a variety of NETP placements in the inpatient settings and externally with our community providers.
“It has been a pleasure getting to know our amazing colleagues entering the profession in the February cohort,” says Alana.
“Please join us in welcoming them within the clinical areas, keep an eye out for them, introduce yourself, and congratulate them on the beginning of what will be an incredible career!”
We wish them all the very best moving forward!
